About the BIG NIH Chapter
The NIH Chapter of Blacks In Government (BIG) is a member of Region XI. Region XI represents all chapters in the Washington Metropolitan area.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Chapter has diligently served the interests of Black federal employees at the National Institutes of Health since 1982. The Chapter aims to build and maintain professionalism, skills, and knowledge, as well as serve as a welcoming environment to celebrate our cultural heritage. The membership of the Chapter recognizes these governing principles and supports the idea that individual needs and aspirations can become the common goal of building all. The BIG NIH Chapter provides support to facilitate individuals' success thus collectively strengthening the whole in integrity, equality in the workplace, and community investments.

To promote excellence in government through the practice and advocacy of equal opportunity, professional development, empowerment and advancement for Black employees and others dedicated to justice and equality in the workplace and local community investments.

Membership & Annual Dues Structure

- Regular Member: Any Employee or Retiree of the Federal, State or a local government.
- National $45; Chapter $20
- Associate Member: Any person, including contractors.
- National Dues $25; Chapter $20
- Associate Member Undergraduate Student: an undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- National $20; Chapter $10
- Life Member: Any person, including contractors.
- One-Time National $375; Annual Chapter $20
